SPEECH TRAINING FOR THE HONG KONG SPEECH FESTIVAL

12 lessons per course, 60 minutes per lesson

Private 1-on-1 coaching that develops confident, polished and high-scoring stage performance

Every programme is fully personalised to the individual student and the specific poem or prose piece they will perform. We begin by assessing current strengths and areas for development, then design focused sessions that systematically build the skills adjudicators look for — and the stage presence that leaves a lasting impression.

Course Structure

  • 12 private 1-on-1 lessons for each poem or prose piece

  • 60 minutes per lesson

  • Course duration: 6 to 8 weeks

What is covered

Students receive thorough, repeated practice in every critical element of competition performance:

  • Clear and accurate pronunciation, intonation, inflection and modulation

  • Voice projection, breath control and vocal variety

  • Pacing, timing and phrasing so the piece flows naturally and holds attention

  • Facial expression, eye contact, and posture

  • Stage presence and audience engagement

  • Deep understanding of the poem or prose, including the author’s intention and emotional tone

  • Characterisation and interpretation (especially valuable for dramatic or narrative pieces)

  • Secure memorisation and confident recall under pressure

  • Techniques for managing nerves and delivering a composed, focused performance from the first word to the last

Every lesson includes constructive feedback. Practice is recorded so students can review their performance at home, make precise adjustments between sessions, and steadily refine their delivery.

The result is a confident, expressive and well-prepared performer who can deliver their piece with clarity, control and genuine stage presence on the day of the competition.
